Oh! Awesome Fitspo Fact!

In class the other day one of my professors took a rabbit trail onto talking about running shoes.

He said that research has been done looking into the cost of running shoes in relation to injury rate and it has been shown that those who spend less on their running shoes actually get injured less

The justification is that the cheaper running shoes often have less support, allowing your foot to break them in, to run with your natural gait more quickly/readily. Whereas the fancier shoes are equipped with more bells & whistles, but don’t acclamate to the foot as quickly, causing biomechanical issues.

Also, he said the whole “only run a certain amount miles in a shoe” is a complete fabrication put out by the shoe making companies

I’m not sure if I would anecdotally agree, but my PT program is all about evidence based practice, and that is definitely what the evidence is showing… so, if it’ll save me $50 or more on a pair of running shoes, I’m all for it!
